We have been learning about famous Abolitionists during the last few weeks in class. One you may want to read more about is Frederick Douglass.
Frederick Douglass was an escaped slave who taught himself to read and write. He was a staunch abolitionist who was willing to fight with the 54th Massachusetts during the Civil War. When he was told that he was too old to fight he sent two of his sons instead. He met with Abraham Lincoln to talk about the abolition of slavery, he wrote numerous articles and spoke on the evils of slavery.
