The Name “United States of America” Becomes Official 242 Years Ago Today!

242 years ago, on September 9, 1776, the Second Continental Congress adopted a new name for the thirteen colonies.  The name was used by Thomas Jefferson as he was writing the Declaration of Independence.

We just finished studying the Declaration of Independence.  Can you summarize the Declaration of Independence while celebrating this unique holiday!
